Job Position: Alignment Engineer
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Railway CAD Engineer to support the design and documentation of railway projects, specifically focusing on L-Sections (Longitudinal Sections), ESPs (Engineering Scaled Plans), and GADs (General Arrangement Drawings). The ideal candidate should have strong technical proficiency in railway-specific design and drafting, along with hands-on experience in software like AutoCAD Civil 3D and GIS tools.
Key Responsibilities:
- L-Section (Longitudinal Section) – Railway
- Interpret and draft vertical curves, ruling gradients, and compensations for curves.
- Refer to chainages and benchmarks to ensure accurate stationing.
- Estimate earthwork quantities (cut/fill) and plan embankments and subgrade levels.
- Assist in cross-drainage and formation level planning.
- Prepare L-sections using AutoCAD Civil 3D or equivalent.
- ESP (Engineering Scaled Plan) – Railway
- Integrate horizontal and vertical alignments for stations and yards.
- Map railway ROW (Right of Way), land boundaries, and existing encroachments.
- Layout utilities, OHE systems, cables, culverts, and signaling structures.
- Design station layouts including platforms, loops, sidings, and crossovers.
- Incorporate survey/GIS data using QGIS, ArcGIS, or similar.
- GAD (General Arrangement Drawing) – Railway
- Draft structural layouts for bridges, station buildings, ROBs, FOBs, and subways.
- Detail structural components including girders, bearings, joints, and piers.
- Ensure compliance with standard gauges and clearance norms.
- Apply Indian Railway Standards (IRS), IRC codes, and RDSO guidelines in designs.
- Use AutoCAD and Civil 3D for drawing preparation and detailing.
Cross-functional Technical Support
- Analyze alignment and survey data (total station/GPS).
- Handle leveling and datum references accurately.
- Ensure adherence to railway drafting standards (symbols, colors, line weights).
- Coordinate with construction teams for field implementation.
- Maintain version control and proper documentation for all drawings.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and standard CAD tools.
- Working knowledge of GIS platforms such as QGIS or ArcGIS.
- Solid understanding of railway geometry, cross-sections, and alignments.Experience with Indian railway codes, standards, and drawing conventions.
